The Women In Sports committee was formed in January 2013, when the chairperson Katura Horton-Perinchief invited each National Sports Governing Body (N.S.G.B.) to send a representative to the first meeting on January 30th, 2013. Meetings are held every two months.
The women in sport Committee's vision:
We envision a future where equality of opportunity leads to more women in sport at all levels. The Bermuda Women in Sports Committee is dedicated to having a positive influence on gender equity, and access for women to an enriching sport experience. Working together, we shall lead the advancement of sport for the benefit of the participants and society.
One of the first projects to be undertaken in this area was the Women in Sports Expo. This idea came about when the President of the Bermuda National Athletic Association (BNAA) discussed with the President of the BOA an idea for a Women in Sports EXPO. There began a partnership between the BNAA and the BOA to undertake a Women in Sports EXPO in April 2013.
